The University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine is recruiting up to 16 neuroscience investigators as part of a strategic initiative to expand its basic and translational research portfolio. Appointments may be tenured, tenure-track, or non-tenure-earning, at all ranks, in one or more of the School’s 27 academic departments. Priority will be given to applicants with dynamic research programs focused on brain health and disease across the lifespan. Areas of interest include neurodegenerative diseases, neurodevelopment, neuropsychiatric disorders, autism and intellectual disorders, epilepsy, substance use disorders, neuroimmunology and neuroinflammation, circadian rhythms and sleep, traumatic brain injury, and human iPSC/organoid models. Successful applicants will join UAB’s neuroscience research community, including the UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center, which comprises more than 450 neuroscience research faculty, clinicians, staff, students, and trainees from 32 departments across nine schools. UAB offers a broad network of research centers and institutes and is investing in a new flagship research facility with flexible laboratory space, vivarium infrastructure, and facilities designed to support interdisciplinary collaboration and ambitious research programs. Applicants should electronically submit a curriculum vitae and a letter of interest addressed to the UAB Search Committee. The letter should describe relevant experience and key achievements and explain how the applicant would contribute to the programs and responsibilities described. Materials are reviewed immediately and on a continuing basis until the position is filled. A pre-employment background check is conducted for candidates selected for employment.
