About The Position
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an academic pediatric hospitalist to join the Divisions of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and Academic General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics. The faculty position will support the divisions’ and department’s strategic goal of providing excellent clinical care and medical education. The divisions include faculty and staff recognized for leadership in education, quality improvement, advocacy, informatics, and health systems research. The position includes clinical work on the pediatric hospital medicine service at Children’s of Alabama and the newborn hospital medicine service at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Both services provide clinical teaching for students and residents. The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to divisional program growth and collaborate with other programs at UAB. Salary, rank, and tenure will be based on experience and current academic achievements.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree: MD, DO, and/or MD/PhD.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Alabama.
- Board certified or board eligible in pediatric hospital medicine and general pediatrics.
- Excellent clinical and teaching skills.
- Interest in scholarship.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care on the pediatric hospital medicine service at Children’s of Alabama.
- Provide clinical care on the newborn hospital medicine service at UAB Hospital.
- Teach medical students and residents on both services.
