About The Position

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within the guidelines of nursing care standards. The Med/Surg unit cares for a variety of patients using a relationship-based care philosophy. The position is in a 43-bed unit and is full time on the night shift. It is benefits eligible and eligible for the RN Career Ladder and sign-on bonus.

The role promotes patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment and supports individualized care planning in collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and the interprofessional team. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to remain alert and work safely.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Less than two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Proactively plan and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
