About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The role requires clinical expertise to resolve complex patient, management, and physician problems without supervision. The Clinical Nurse III demonstrates competence in delivering care that meets the age-specific needs of the population served and contributes to unit education, orientation, precepting, and process improvement.

Requirements

At least three years of professional experience.
Must hold and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
CPR certification is required.
Education must be sufficient to meet the standards for the required license and/or certification; no specific minimum education is stated.

Responsibilities

Correlate the patient’s history and support systems within hospital or nursing-home care.
Assess the needs of patients and their families.
Develop and initiate plans of care involving patients and families.
Recommend interventions and evaluate plans of care.
Resolve complex patient, management, and physician problems without supervision.
Deliver care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Lead process improvement initiatives in the assigned unit or participate in facility teams.
Precept new employees or students, or attend a formal preceptor workshop and be willing to precept; review preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
Provide four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
Contribute to the development and evaluation of the unit orientation program.
Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards; complete annual required education assignments; work toward goals and objectives; and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
