About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. In the Critical Care Unit, the nurse uses clinical expertise to manage complex patient, management, and physician problems independently; delivers age-appropriate care; supports unit improvement and orientation efforts; and supervises designated support staff. The position is full-time, 72 hours per pay period, on the night shift, at Parkwest Medical Center in West Knoxville, Tennessee. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

Minimum of three years of professional experience.
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
CPR required.

Responsibilities

Correlate patient history and support systems within hospital care or nursing home care.
Assess the needs of patients and their families.
Develop and initiate plans of care involving patients and families; recommend interventions and evaluate the plans of care.
Resolve complex patient, management, and physician problems without supervision.
Demonstrate competence in critical skills and deliver care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Lead process-improvement initiatives within the unit or participate in facility teams.
Precept new employees or students, or attend a formal preceptor workshop and be willing to precept.
Review preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
Provide four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
Contribute to development and evaluation of the unit orientation program.
Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete required annual education assignments.
Work toward goals and objectives and participate in quality-improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
