About The Position
Mid Cities Psychiatry is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its mental health care team. The organization specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health illnesses, including treatment-resistant depression and substance use disorders. The role includes accurately scheduling new and existing patients and supporting administrative and clinical record workflows. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of or experience with EMR/EHR systems.
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
- Experience handling prior authorizations, pre-certifications, and medication refills.
- Experience updating patient medical records and histories, uploading charts, and tracking medications, dosages, and side effects.
- Ability to code and complete insurance forms.
- Strong administrative and leadership skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Trustworthiness, dependability, a positive attitude, and ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship.
Responsibilities
- Schedule new and existing patients with a high degree of accuracy.
- Answer and screen incoming calls.
- Communicate accurately with patients and team members using available tools.
- Adhere to established office policies, procedures, and systems.
- Maintain confidentiality of data and information.
- Handle prior authorizations, pre-certifications, and medication refills.
- Update patient medical records and histories, upload patient charts, and track medications, dosages, and side effects.
- Code and complete insurance forms.
- Help maintain positive working relationships and a cooperative work environment.
