Youth Villages offers paid internship opportunities for master's students in select residential and community-based programs. Internship placements are determined during the interview process based on availability, academic requirements, and the applicant’s experience. Youth Villages works with interns and their academic programs to shape an internship around practicum needs and class schedules so interns can obtain course credit. Internships are offered nationwide during the fall and spring semesters, with select Tennessee locations available during summer. Offers are made on a rolling basis, and spots are limited. The intern shadows counselors during home- and community-based family sessions, carries a reduced caseload, implements interventions, and facilitates individual, group, and/or family therapy. The role uses evidence-based practices and includes weekly professional-development meetings, access to clinical trainings, transportation as needed, and timely documentation in an electronic medical record system. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. The position pays $22 per hour. Community-based staff receive reimbursement for applicable mileage. Applicants must have a current, valid driver’s license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance.
