About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee laboratory services across its freestanding emergency departments in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a full-time, day-shift position; hours may vary depending on departmental needs across the system. The position is located at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, with the primary location listed as the Oakleaf Main Building Freestanding ED.

The supervisor directs daily laboratory operations, workflow, and quality assurance across multiple freestanding emergency department locations, ensuring continuous coverage and rapid-response diagnostic testing. The role oversees high-complexity STAT testing, point-of-care testing, hematology, chemistry, and blood bank procedures that support urgent and emergency care. The supervisor also ensures regulatory compliance, monitors instruments and quality controls, guides and evaluates staff, and works with emergency department clinical leaders to support patient safety and efficient STAT workflows.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of histology laboratory experience.
• At least 5 years of medical technologist experience.
• Progressive management experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Laboratory supervisor license required.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily clinical laboratory operations, workflow, and quality assurance across multiple freestanding emergency department locations.
• Ensure continuous laboratory coverage and rapid-response diagnostic testing.
• Oversee high-complexity STAT laboratory testing, point-of-care testing, hematology, chemistry, and blood bank procedures.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards across float coverage sites.
• Manage proficiency testing, equipment validation, and site audit preparedness.
• Monitor instrument calibration, quality control logs, and turnaround times.
• Provide on-site clinical guidance and technical troubleshooting.
• Conduct competency evaluations for laboratory staff.
• Collaborate with freestanding ED medical directors, emergency physicians, and nursing leadership to optimize critical value reporting, streamline STAT workflows, and promote patient safety.
