About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Freestanding ED coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and the scope and standards of nursing practice. In collaboration with medical providers and other care-team members, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN advocates for patients and their families or caregivers and supports the organization’s mission, values, patient experience, clinical outcomes, and departmental performance. This is a full-time night position at the Freestanding ED in Plaistow. The RN assesses and reassesses patient pain, performs provider-ordered procedures and monitoring, documents care promptly and thoroughly, and responds to patient requests while anticipating needs. The RN also explains medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications and potential side effects, follow-up measures, and lifestyle guidance in language patients and caregivers can understand, helping prepare them for ongoing self-management.

Requirements

Associate degree.
Registered Nurse (RN) qualification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within one year of employment start date.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and deliver high-quality, individualized, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team.
Advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while supporting a positive patient experience and strong clinical outcomes.
Assess patient pain regularly and reassess after appropriate interventions.
Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
Document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate patient needs, and proactively address them.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, patient status, treatment plans, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures.
Explain complex medical terminology in a way patients and caregivers can understand.
Teach non-medicinal follow-up measures, including healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
Prepare patients and families or caregivers for future self-management.
