About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Specialist (described in the posting as a mid-level Clinical Terminology Specialist) will help launch a new terminology services platform and establish the operational processes, documentation, training materials, and governance needed to support healthcare interoperability and analytics initiatives. The role works with business and technical teams, implementation partners, and healthcare data stakeholders to promote consistent use of clinical vocabularies and coding standards across systems. This is a foundational program-building role, not solely a maintenance position. The specialist will develop and maintain terminology mappings, value sets, standards, and supporting documentation; contribute to terminology governance and data standardization; and establish a knowledge repository. The role also develops and delivers training for NC HIEA staff and stakeholders, explains technical concepts in accessible business language, and serves as a resource on terminology practices. The specialist collaborates on requirements, solution design, testing, knowledge transfer, implementation planning, validation, and operational readiness, and helps define program success measures and identify opportunities to improve data quality, interoperability, and analytics readiness. This is a contract position, fully remote, based out of Remote, OR. The listed pay range is $40.00–$55.00 per hour, with individual compensation dependent on factors including qualifications, skills, experience, job knowledge, location, and internal equity. Eligible benefits for this temporary role may include medical, dental and vision coverage; critical illness, accident and hospital coverage; a 401(k) plan; life insurance; short- and long-term disability; a health spending account; transportation benefits; an employee assistance program; and time off or leave. The position is anticipated to close on October 28, 2026.
