Works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, including nurses, physicians, ancillary staff, management, and information systems analysts. Responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information systems. Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Information systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. Consults with and assists users in making the most effective use of computer applications through training, file maintenance, testing, system monitoring, and problem resolution. Prepare status reports that quantitatively and qualitatively inform of project progress and results. Recommends software solutions based on user requirements. Generates and analyzes documents, charts and/or diagrams of business problems to be programmed or addressed via systems acquisitions. Assists in developing project cost and benefit estimates to establish project worth, including the development of alternative considerations leading to recommendations for new systems or systems changes. Assist in developing departmental policies and standards related to use of systems and software.
