About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to teach cadaver-based gross anatomy within a newly renovated, state-of-the-art laboratory and to contribute to the education of future physical therapists and physician assistants. Joining our Physical Therapy team, the Clinical & Functional Anatomical Science Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for the following: Daemen University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position to teach Graduate Human Gross Anatomy in the Scott Bieler College of Health Professions (SBCHP) starting 01 July 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, student-centered academic community committed to excellence in health professions education, interprofessional collaboration, and clinical relevance. The successful candidate will serve as a SBCHP faculty member responsible for delivering high quality instruction in Graduate Human Gross Anatomy to students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (PA) programs. Students in both programs engage in cadaver-based dissection, applied clinical anatomy, and interprofessional learning experiences that prepare them for real world healthcare environments. The faculty member will play a central role in advancing anatomical sciences education within a newly renovated, state-of-the-art gross anatomy laboratory suite. Contingent upon expertise and interest, additional teaching opportunities may be afforded in the DPT and/or PA department curricula.

Requirements

  • Academic Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., PhD in Anatomy, Anatomical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Neuroanatomy, or related discipline) or a professional medical doctorate (e.g., MD, DO) with significant anatomy teaching experience. Consideration will be made for applicants with significant anatomy teaching experience who either hold a DPT degree combined with an ABPTS certification, or a PA with a Master's degree
  • Demonstrated experience teaching human gross anatomy with cadaver dissection at the graduate or professional level
  • Strong understanding of clinically applied functional anatomy, particularly relevant to medical practice and rehabilitation
  • Experience with the administration and oversight of a cadaver laboratory, including knowledge of state and federal regulations, legal and ethical standards, donor program coordination, and laboratory safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills with a commitment to student success

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and/or Physician Assistant Studies (PA) programs with evidence of integrating clinical correlations into anatomy instruction
  • Record of scholarship or educational research in anatomy or health professions education
  • Experience in interprofessional education (IPE) and team-based learning environments
  • Demonstrated use of contemporary, evidence-based pedagogy, which may include active learning, flipped classroom models, and competency-based education
  • Experience incorporating 3D anatomy visualization tools, simulation technologies, and digital education platforms to enhance student learning
