About The Position

The Department of Pain Medicine is seeking to fill an Open Rank, Clinical Faculty Appointment. This role involves providing clinical expertise in pain management, fostering a teaching and research environment for trainees, and developing/maintaining a clinical pain management practice. The position includes patient care responsibilities, medical direction of non-physician personnel, administrative duties, education and teaching, and research activities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission.
  • Licensed to practice in Texas.
  • Board Eligible/Board certified depending on rank.
  • Appropriate post medical doctoral training.
  • Required experience based on rank.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical expertise in pain management and an appropriate teaching and research environment for fellows, residents, and other trainees.
  • Teach residents and fellows in pain management.
  • Develop and maintain a clinical pain management practice for patients referred to UT MD Anderson.
  • Provide consultant pain management services on in- and outpatients.
  • Provide procedural pain management services as needed with appropriate pre and post procedural care.
  • Supervise fellows, residents, and other trainees as appropriate rotating through the Department.
  • Participate on the inpatient pain management service on a rotating and as needed basis.
  • Participate in all pain section meetings and educational conferences.
  • Work with advance practice nurses and/or physician assistants in accordance with MDACC policy.
  • Serve on institutional and hospital committees as requested.
  • Assume administrative duties as assigned.
  • Provide a balance and integrated educational program in pain management for fellows, residents, and other trainees.
  • Develop, implement, provide, and evaluate written learning materials for the graduate curriculum in pain management.
  • Participate in, develop, and implement specific continuing education programs pertaining to pain medicine.
  • Attend and participate in Department, and Division teaching and continuing education conferences.
  • Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activity.
  • Develop programs of clinical research and scholarly activities.
