About The Position

This is an open-rank, clinical faculty appointment in Urology, responsible to the Chairman of the Department of Urology. The role involves providing clinical expertise in patient care management with an emphasis on Urinary Tract Reconstruction, Voiding Dysfunction, and General Urology. Additionally, the position requires providing an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in Urology, as well as contributing expertise in clinical and/or translational research.

Requirements

MD or DO from an approved Medical School
Successful Completion of a Fellowship focused on Urinary Tract and Pelvic Reconstruction – GURS or URPS with experience in urinary diversion
Robotic Privileges at current institution
Licensed to Practice Medicine in the State of Texas
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Board Certified in Urology or timely progression towards certification
Previous clinical experience as a Fellow or Faculty member with a focus on Urinary Tract Reconstruction, Voiding Dysfunction and/or Genitourinary Prosthetics
Capable of providing complete and thorough history and physical patient examinations.
Able to perform invasive procedures as dictated by the physician's subspecialty.
Must be able to work within a context of very intense interpersonal relationship including other physicians, patients, and subordinates.

Nice To Haves

Expertise in multiple minimally invasive surgical platforms for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia
Demonstrated interest and expertise in Female Urology and Reconstructive Surgery.

Responsibilities

Serve on institutional committees as requested.
Provide state-of-the-art Urinary Tract Reconstructive and General Urology surgical procedures.
Provide a balanced and integrated educational program in Urinary Tract Reconstruction, Voiding Dysfunction, and General Urology principles and techniques.
Attend and participate in Division/Department teaching and continuing education conferences.
Actively engage in or facilitate clinical research and scholarly activity.
Develop programs of clinical research and scholarly activities.
Represent the Department of Urology in local, regional, state, and national matters.
Participate in community-based tumor boards, disease-specific conferences, and other such meetings.
Represent UT MD Anderson at community events, educational forums, and among referring physician groups.
Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner.
Provide physician staffing for the Urology Department.
Visually review for proper ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding and approve all charge documents.
Complete patient documentation for medical records within time frames provided by institutional and local hospital policies.
Correspond with physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
Keep abreast of current approaches in the management of patients through attendance at continuing education conferences.
Request appropriate consultations for patients.
Provide a role model as a practitioner for faculty, fellows, residents, and students.
Provide peer review for assessing the clinical practice of faculty within the Department.
