About The Position

The Clinical Experience and Advising Coordinator supports successful teacher candidate progression and serves as a key resource for teacher candidates, faculty, external partners, and university stakeholders. Working closely with the Director of the Center for Student Success, the Coordinator strengthens educator preparation by managing quality field placements prior to student teaching, fostering partnerships, coordinating contractual requirements that support candidate clinical experiences, guiding teacher candidates through professional education requirements, maintaining accurate documentation for placement, assessment, and accreditation, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree plus one year of professional experience in an education setting or bachelor’s degree plus two years of professional experience in an education setting or three years of professional experience in an education setting or an equivalent combination of postsecondary training, education and/or professional experience.
  • Experience working directly with students.
  • Demonstrated oral, verbal, and written communication skills sufficient to communicate in writing, over the phone, and prepare and deliver presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability for creative problem solving and the ability to understand complex systems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to speak in public.
  • Must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States by the day employment begins.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the placement of teacher candidates in field experiences prior to student teaching in collaboration with school districts, healthcare providers, community partners, faculty, and Center personnel.
  • Serve as a primary resource regarding field placement and educator preparation requirements.
  • Facilitate timely placement processes, communicate placement requirements and timelines, maintain placement records, and ensure the successful completion of clinical experience requirements prior to student teaching.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with school district administrators, placement coordinators, community partners, and other external stakeholders to support high-quality field experiences.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and support contract and affiliation agreement requirements with school districts, healthcare providers, and other organizations that provide clinical experiences for teacher candidates.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to placement processes and procedures that enhance student success, operational efficiency, and partner satisfaction.
  • Provide advising and student support services to teacher candidates with emphasis on progression through professional education requirements, field experiences, clinical readiness, graduation, and program completion.
  • Collaborate with faculty advisors and university offices to assist students in navigating academic and placement processes.
  • Communicate clinical experience requirements, deadlines, documentation requirements, and candidate responsibilities.
  • Provide individualized assistance and referrals as appropriate.
  • Monitor candidate readiness for field experiences by maintaining required documentation and supporting compliance processes, including background checks, liability insurance, clinical experience records, and related requirements.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records within institutional systems, including ELC/Tevera and related platforms, to support student progression and successful completion of educator preparation requirements.
  • Collect, maintain, analyze, and report data related to placement, advising, candidate progression, and clinical experience requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of candidate records, field placement information, assessment documentation, contract-related records, and compliance data maintained within institutional systems.
  • Support assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement activities related to educator preparation programs.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Assessment Lead, Accreditation Lead, faculty, and department leadership to maintain field experience data, candidate assessment information, and other evidence required for accreditation, licensure, and state reporting.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, analysis, documentation, and stakeholder feedback processes.
  • Participate in efforts to improve systems, workflows, and outcomes related to candidate success and program effectiveness, including practices related to field placements and partnership agreements.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned necessary to support the effective operation of the Center for Student Success and College of Education, including committee participation, professional development, recruitment activities, partner events, and other initiatives that support student success and college priorities.
