About The Position

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Clinical Dentist to support our Dental Hygiene Program at our Albuquerque campus for 16 hours per week. In this vital part-time role, you will provide essential clinical oversight while collaborating with students, instructors, and clinical staff in a dynamic educational environment. As a Clinical Dentist in our hygiene clinic, your expertise bridges clinical care and student learning. During your 16 weekly clinic hours, you will oversee patient exams, evaluate student progress during clinical procedures, prescribe diagnostic care, and step in to guide student hygienists through complex cases. You'll play a direct role in creating a safe, high-standard clinical learning environment for our students and community patients alike.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of New Mexico.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with computer applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical dental experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a clinical teaching, supervisory, or mentoring role is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight and comprehensive dental services within the campus hygiene clinic.
  • Supervise and mentor student dental hygienists and dental assistant externs during clinical practice.
  • Prescribe and oversee radiographic and diagnostic services in compliance with New Mexico State Board regulations.
  • Deliver didactic and lab instruction as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Supervise care during medical emergencies and maintain clinic safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and participate in faculty meetings, clinical updates, and in-service training.
