About The Position

Responsible for the provision of supportive counseling with families residing in the Shelter. The scheduled may vary based on program needs at the site. This is a full-time position located in Harlem, NY and Jamaica, NY.

Attend divisional housing meetings, weekly staff meetings, quarterly agency meetings and other internal staff meetings as required.
Work closely with clients to encourage compliance with programs Code of Conduct.
Appropriate and timely referrals on behalf of clients, provides client advocacy in negotiating systems and delivery of services.
Attend and or coordinate case conferences with other providers
Other duties/tasks as assigned

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments and other clinical screenings to determine the need for further therapeutic interventions.
Conduct psych-evaluations for the 2010E housing application, requiring strong knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
Support families, especially those with members struggling with behavioral issues, mental health, substance abuse (SA), and intimate partner violence (IPV) using a Trauma Informed Care approach.
Use motivational interviewing techniques and harm reduction principles in therapy.
Provide crisis intervention as needed and refer clients to the Housing Specialist for next-step housing needs.
Work collaboratively with all staff within the facility and other providers to coordinate care.
Ensure compliance with contract service requirements, maintain regular contact with families, and ensure their active participation in program activities.
Provide clinical guidance and support to the social service team.
Create and facilitate training sessions for staff.
