About The Position

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time clinical faculty member specializing in the clinical care of patients with lung cancer. This position will be at the Clinical Associate or Clinical Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM), Department of Medicine at UW. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in service, research, and teaching. This position will focus primarily on ambulatory clinical care of patients with prospective lung cancer at a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center. We seek a highly motivated individual committed to patient care and advancing the mission of the center through additional administrative, research, and teaching opportunities. The Fred Hutch has comprehensive pulmonary diagnostic facilities, including a state-of-the art procedure suite for bronchoscopy with navigation and EBUS capabilities as well as a full-service Pulmonary Function Laboratory. Additionally, UW-Montlake has a full-time bronchoscopy suite and advanced robotic bronchoscopy and EBUS capabilities. Specifically, this individual will focus on directing and expanding our lung nodule program and building our advanced bronchoscopy program. The position will encompass lung cancer screening, lung nodule management, and the performance of procedures to diagnose lung cancer. The primary, annual appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine. Requirements

MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
Completion of a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (or foreign equivalent)
Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington
Demonstrated record in clinical care with a primary focus on the evaluation and management of patients with pulmonary nodules
Expertise in the performance of advanced bronchoscopic procedure to facilitate lung cancer diagnosis

Responsibilities

Serving as the director of the Lung Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Clinic (LCEDPC) and performing advanced bronchoscopic procedures to facilitate lung cancer diagnosis.
Expanding LCEDPC volume and capabilities using novel software programs to identify and track pulmonary nodules.
Performing advanced bronchoscopic procedures including navigational and robotic bronchoscopy in addition to radial EBUS and routine diagnostic bronchoscopies.
Contributing to the evaluation of patients in the Fred Hutch Pulmonary Consult Clinic, which manages clinical concerns of pulmonary complications of malignant disease and therapy.
Participating in the administrative, research, and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division and the UW PCCSM Division.
Conducting clinical research with existing comprehensive clinical databases and ongoing prospective studies.
Oversight of PCCSM Fellows during their outpatient clinical rotation or continuity clinics.
Giving lectures at various FHCC conferences targeted for Hematology/Oncology faculty and mid-level providers.
Participating in inpatient consultative services at UWMC-Montlake.
