This position is for an inpatient Hospital Medicine faculty physician for Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Decatur Hospital. Requirements

  • MD or equivalent degree.
  • Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia.
  • Eligible for Emory University School of Medicine faculty appointment.

Responsibilities

  • History and physical examinations of patients being admitted to the hospital.
  • Assessing the acuity of hospitalized patients and ensuring a proper level of care.
  • Performing bedside procedures as needed and credentialed for.
  • Providing consultation services for specialty provider partners.
  • Ordering consultations from specialty provider partners.
  • Initiating contact with primary care providers and teams in the outpatient setting to ensure appropriate continuity of care.
  • Working with trainees, which may include allied health professionals, on some months.
  • Devoting between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to scholarly activities, which may include authorship of manuscripts, participation in research studies, abstract presentations, professional blogs, and other scholarly activities.
  • Devoting between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to teaching, which may include occasional lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship.
