About The Position

The Department of Geosciences at Virginia Tech is seeking an open-rank faculty member to conduct research in areas related to critical, strategic, and economically important elements and mineral resources in the lithosphere. This includes but is not limited to geochemistry, mineralogy, ore-forming processes, fluid-rock interactions, and the occurrences and concentrations of critical elements and minerals. The role involves applying diverse methods such as laboratory analysis, experimental work, field studies, computational modeling, and data-intensive approaches. The successful candidate will contribute to the university's growing initiative in critical mineral science and subsurface sciences, develop an externally funded research program, and contribute to undergraduate and graduate education. The position is located in Blacksburg, Virginia, offering a high quality of life and access to the Appalachian Mountains. Requirements

A Ph.D. in geoscience or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
