About The Position

The University of Connecticut invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenured or tenure-track faculty position in physical chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The position is part of a multidisciplinary quantum science cluster hire supporting UConn’s leadership in the NSF Quantum Technologies Engine in Connecticut (QuantumCT Engine). The hire will contribute to the University’s long-term strategic investment in quantum technology and is expected to develop a research program that complements departmental expertise. Research involving platform approaches to discovering, characterizing, and functionally integrating molecules or materials for emerging quantum technologies will receive the highest priority. The research program should advance QuantumCT Engine goals and foster connections to quantum sensing, secure communications, computing, and materials, as well as commercialization, workforce development, and innovation across Connecticut. The successful candidate will conduct nationally recognized original research at the intersection of chemistry and quantum science, obtain external funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and serve the department, college, university, and professional communities. The academic appointment will be at UConn’s Storrs campus; faculty may also be asked to teach at a regional campus as part of their ordinary workload. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2027. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check.
