About The Position

The Clinical Assistant supports RNs, advanced practice providers, physicians, and other providers by delivering direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting. The role contributes to Essentia Health’s mission and goals and performs identified procedures for which the employee has demonstrated competency. Patients may range in age from newborn to elderly. This is a casual position in Urgent Care at the Virginia Clinic, with a day/evening rotation and weekend and holiday work noted.

Requirements

• For the Medical Assistant pathway: current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant, or completion of a Medical Assistant program with certification required within one year of hire; certification must be passed within two attempts.
• For the LPN pathway: current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the relevant state.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, or ability to obtain it within three months.

Responsibilities

• Assist RNs, advanced practice providers, physicians, and other providers.
• Provide direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting.
• Perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
• Care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
