About The Position

The Clinical Aide provides direct support to certified clinicians in delivering orthotic and prosthetic patient care services. Under a credentialed clinician’s supervision, the role includes preparing patients and treatment areas, performing technical fabrication and device modification tasks, maintaining clinical documentation, and managing inventory. The Clinical Aide carries out assigned treatment tasks with precision and attention to detail while following safety and regulatory standards. The role also supports certified and/or licensed practitioners with clinical and administrative tasks. A Clinical Assistant who holds a recognized license or certification in a related allied health profession may work under indirect supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and have a driving record that meets Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures standards.
Willingness to verify all clinical activities with certified clinical personnel.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Hand skills necessary to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
Knowledge of biomechanical principles.
Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for reporting information to patients and staff.
Effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and plan to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively as a team member.

Nice To Haves

Preference for allied health professionals, such as PTAs, OTAs, and athletic trainers.
A recognized license or certification in a related allied health profession may qualify the Clinical Assistant for indirect supervision.

Responsibilities

Assist certified clinicians in delivering patient care services under direct supervision.
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for clinical procedures.
Perform technical fabrication tasks, including making and modifying molds.
Execute treatment modifications, adjustments, and repairs as directed by the supervising clinician.
Fit and provide soft goods items to patients, and make alterations or adjustments as needed.
Provide orthotics fitting services independently.
Assist with selected patient follow-up care under clinician direction.
Complete and maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient care.
Communicate patient information and care outcomes to the supervising clinician.
Ensure patient procedures comply with clinical protocols and standards.
Perform shipping, receiving, and inventory monitoring of prosthetic and orthotic materials.
Contact and coordinate with vendors to order necessary materials and supplies.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
Follow safety regulations and comply with Medicare, other governmental regulations, blood-borne pathogen requirements, and OSHA requirements.
