About The Position

The Clinical Aide provides direct support to certified clinicians delivering orthotic and prosthetic patient care services. Under a credentialed clinician’s supervision, the role includes preparing patients and treatment rooms, performing technical fabrication and device modification, completing clinical documentation, and managing inventory. The Clinical Aide carries out assigned treatment tasks precisely and maintains compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role also includes assisting certified and/or licensed practitioners with patient care and performing assigned clinical and administrative tasks. A Clinical Assistant who holds a recognized license or certification in a related allied health profession may be supervised under indirect supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and have a driving record within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures standards.
Willingness to verify all clinical activities with certified clinical personnel.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Hand skills necessary to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
Knowledge of biomechanical principles.
Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for reporting information to patients and staff.
Effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and plan to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively as a team member.

Nice To Haves

Preference for allied health professionals, such as PTA, OTA, or athletic trainer.
A recognized license or certification in a related allied health profession (e.g., Physical Therapist/PTA, Occupational Therapist/OTA, Athletic Trainer) may qualify the Clinical Assistant for indirect supervision.

Responsibilities

Assist certified clinicians in delivering patient care services under direct supervision.
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for clinical procedures.
Perform technical fabrication tasks, including making and modifying molds.
Perform treatment modifications, adjustments, and repairs as directed by the supervising clinician.
Fit and provide soft goods items to patients, and make alterations and adjustments as needed.
Provide orthotics fitting services independently.
Assist with selected patient follow-up care under clinician direction.
Complete and maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient care.
Communicate patient information and care outcomes to the supervising clinician.
Ensure patient procedures comply with clinical protocols and standards.
Perform shipping, receiving, and inventory monitoring of prosthetic and orthotic materials.
Contact and coordinate with vendors to order necessary materials and supplies.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
Follow safety regulations and comply with Medicare, other governmental regulations, blood-borne pathogen requirements, and OSHA requirements.
Verify clinical activities with certified clinical personnel as needed.
