About The Position

The Counseling Program at UNT seeks two Clinical Assistant Professors with a demonstrated record of strength in counseling, clinical supervision, leadership, and teaching to support the program’s professional and academic initiatives. These positions will contribute to the program, college, and university’s commitment to maintain excellence at the national level. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, professional faculty appointment. Part-time summer teaching is contingent upon student demand and funding.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program by start of employment
  • Demonstrate a record of effective teaching, supervision, and professional activity
  • Must demonstrate strength and flexibility to teach across the CACREP core, including both clinical and didactic courses
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • A criminal history check and official transcripts are required before employment

Nice To Haves

  • Designation as a Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor
  • Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor
  • Hold a current Certified School Counselor credential in the state of Texas
  • Experience with HSI/MSIs
  • Candidates who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba

Responsibilities

  • Providing clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral level students
  • Advising/mentoring students
  • Serving on dissertation committees
  • Working with faculty members in the Counseling Program and with those centers, institutes, and clinics affiliated with the Program to maintain and enhance the Program's national stature
  • Participating actively on university committees and in professional counseling organizations
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses
