About The Position

This position requires coordination of a variety of responsible duties in stressful non-clinical and clinical situations. There is significant contact with staff/co-workers, students, residents, patients and their families, other employers, physicians, and their office staff, local hospital team members, and other members of the health care community. The role involves promoting the dental school mission, vision, and core values, leading and functioning in an active change environment, and communicating effectively with faculty, staff, residents, and students in various formats. Maintaining professional composure, listening, following, collaborating, negotiating, compromising, directing, delegating, referring, and critical thinking are essential abilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of practice experience.
  • DDS / DMD from an ADA-accredited school of dentistry or equivalent.
  • Completion of an advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Current advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification.
  • Licensed or licensure eligible in California.
  • Knowledge of curriculum management as it relates to oral and maxillofacial surgery.
  • Knowledge of current, evidence-based clinical practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an academic setting.
  • Previous experience in hospital and/or ambulatory surgery center.
  • Board certification is highly desired.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
  • Competency based education and assessment methodology.
  • Modern pedagogical concepts and application in health professions education.
  • Trends in oral health and oral health education.
  • Dental accreditation standards and processes.
  • Ability to inspire excellence and promote innovation.
