Clinical Aide - Operating Room

About The Position

The Clinical Aide performs varied support duties in an operating room setting, including transporting patients and items, monitoring and stocking supplies and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The role supports patient comfort and safety and helps ensure unit activities meet the needs of patients, staff, and other users. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on the day shift.

Requirements

A current Heartsaver CPR course completion card from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required within 90 days of hire and/or placement in the job.
One year of experience in a healthcare or related institutional setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Transport patients to departments while helping safeguard them in the hospital.
Transport lab specimens, blood products, and other items within the organization as needed by the assigned department.
Maintain cleanliness and safety to provide a sanitary environment for internal and external customers of PHHS.
Prepare and restock equipment and supplies in clinic, procedural, and inpatient rooms.
Maintain positive working relationships with unit staff, patients, families, visitors, and hospital administrative and medical staff to support patient comfort and safety and meet users’ needs.
Assist nurses with patient ambulation to help ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Perform patient observation, including 1:1 observation, as directed.
Identify opportunities to improve work processes and customer satisfaction; make recommendations to the supervisor and implement and monitor results as appropriate.
Keep current with developments, advancements, and trends in the field through seminars or workshops, professional journals, professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure, and integrate relevant knowledge into work practices.
Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines; develop effective internal controls supporting compliance; and seek guidance as needed.
