Clinic Registered Nurse .8 FTE- Nashua Clinic
About The Position
This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) at the Nashua Clinic, working 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) on the 1st Shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), 4 days per week. The RN will provide evidence-based nursing care in keeping with professional standards and ethical guidelines, demonstrating a caring consciousness through relationship-based care delivery. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, observation, and counsel to patients and their families, with a strong emphasis on communication with providers and the healthcare team regarding patient conditions and diagnostic results. The RN will also serve as a mentor and consultant to other clinic nursing team members, contributing to their clinical development.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurses.
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
- Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including online training modules, employee timesheet, and performance appraisal system.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Responsibilities
- Maintain patients’ electronic records, accurately documenting care and services provided in a timely manner and ensuring confidentiality.
- Prepare patients for examinations and/or tests, assist with exams and minor office procedures.
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care, administer prescribed medications and treatments, and maintain accurate patient charges.
- Observe and monitor patient condition, notify providers of changes, and perform life-saving measures if necessary.
- Triage patient telephone calls, assess condition, and advise on symptomatic treatment or schedule appointments.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, outside agencies, and hospital personnel regarding patient care.
- Maintain continuity of care for clinical patients and use tact, patience, and understanding when dealing with patients.
- Provide and reinforce teaching for patients and family members, adapting to their language and style.
- Take responsibility for problem-solving regarding patient care, initiating contact with appropriate resources, and exercising independent judgment.
- Act as a clinical resource, sharing knowledge with other clinic staff and interacting effectively to ensure safe, quality care.
- Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of nursing care quality and collaborate to structure patient care.
- Assist in developing strategies to improve clinical competencies of nursing staff.
- Complete and maintain a professional portfolio.
- Maintain the condition of equipment and supplies related to patient care, managing and operating equipment safely.
- Conduct monthly audits of supplies and pharmaceutical samples, removing outdated items.
- Maintain a working knowledge of patient referral processes, scheduling tests/procedures, obtaining prior authorization, and documenting telephone encounters.
- Follow up on lab and diagnostic imaging results, outstanding orders, and ensure all orders and prescriptions are electronically transmitted or faxed daily.
- Perform Lab QA checks, lab collection, and processing procedures.
- Adhere to all applicable WHC and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the supply ordering process, including the removal of expired supplies.
- Perform IRIS/VFC reconciliation and documentation.
- Assist providers in maintaining the CDSS/Alerts/Recall System.
- Scan incoming or outgoing paper documents, organize documents within the EMR, and check for accuracy and clarity.
- Utilize Standard Precautions as appropriate.
- Demonstrate appropriate instrument safety precautions and care when cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing instruments for sterilization.
- Carry out medical asepsis during treatments and special procedures.
