About The Position

This role involves both administrative and clinical duties within a primary care clinic setting. Administrative tasks include managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, and data entry into medical records. Clinical responsibilities encompass taking vital signs, collecting patient information, preparing patients for examinations, maintaining cleanliness of rooms and equipment, stocking supplies, and administering medications as ordered. The position requires adherence to specific departmental competencies and direct supervision or oversight from a provider or supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Graduated from or Completion of a formal MA training program that included pharmacology class, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and completion of a clinical externship (Required effective 9/1/20).
  • Certification or Registration from a CoxHealth approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, RMA/AAMP.
  • Graduate of a state board accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current License Practical Nurse or Graduate Practical Nurse active in the state of Missouri.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Carry out delegated tasks under supervision of a provider or with provider oversite.
  • Proficient Computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in work that involved direct contact with people.
  • Previous experience in a health care setting, particularly in an ambulatory clinic setting.
  • Previous nursing experience, particularly in an outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting.
  • IV certification in the State of Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records.

  • Collect demographics and medical information, including reviewing medication lists.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Clean rooms and equipment.
  • Stock supplies.
