About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The role is in the Registered Nurse, Float Pool at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, a 444-bed hospital offering specialized services including stroke care, bariatric and robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. The position is full-time, 72 hours per pay period, on the night shift.

Requirements

At least one year of professional nursing experience.
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
CPR required.
Education must be sufficient to meet the standards for the required license and/or certification; no specific minimum education is stated.

Responsibilities

Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care or nursing home care.
Assesses the learning needs of patients and families.
Develops and initiates a plan of care involving the patient and family.
Recommends interventions.
Evaluates the plan of care.
Resolves moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
Demonstrates willingness to precept employees or students as directed and reviews preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
Demonstrates competence in critical skills and provides care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards; completes required annual education assignments; works toward goals and objectives; and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
