About The Position

VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital is seeking a Client Service Representative to join its growing 11-doctor practice. The hospital is an AAHA-accredited general practice serving the DMV area since 1942. The role supports high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care by providing professional, respectful, and compassionate service to clients and their pets. The schedule is 11 a.m.–7 p.m. and includes a Saturday rotation.

Requirements

• At least one year of proven client service experience.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Compassion for pets and people, with awareness and understanding of others’ reactions.
• Proven decision-making skills to choose an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to integrate new information into problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and tolerate exposure to pet-related hazards, including allergens, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, answer telephones, and guide clients and their pets to exam rooms.
• Schedule and confirm appointments.
• Make follow-up calls and contact prospective clients.
• Present and explain fees and process payments.
• Recommend, select, and obtain products and services, including prescriptions.
• Answer questions about products and services and educate clients on general animal husbandry and non-medical pet care, including heartworm prevention, housebreaking, and flea and tick control.
• Manage medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
