About The Position

This role involves managing a commercial banking portfolio specific to the upstream/midstream oil and gas sector, with a secondary focus on deepening customer relationships. Responsibilities include client-facing interaction, underwriting, managing approval processes, and legal documentation for a mid-to-large-size portfolio, including complex Reserve Based Loans. Goals include revenue growth, portfolio retention and growth, portfolio management, and making referrals to other bank segments. The role requires partnering with other officers, underwriting Oil & Gas Reserve Based Loans (including engineering and financial data input, historical financial analysis, and operational comprehension), maintaining portfolio credit quality through customer calls and servicing, providing customer service, acting as a conduit for product lines, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and navigating internal systems for portfolio information. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Accounting / Finance / Economics / Mathematics or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 5+ years of commercial banking or lending experience including credit underwriting (for Client Manager).
  • 8+ years commercial banking or lending experience including credit underwriting (for Sr. Client Manager).
  • Advanced knowledge of credit and understanding of underwriting.
  • Solid financial acumen.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding in how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended, how loans can be restructured, approval process, change terms, etc.
  • Ability to interpret policies/procedures, loan contracts, and understanding of credit reports, financial statements and loan documents.
  • Ability to be self-starter and show initiative.
  • Professional communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to prospect and network at various levels within a company.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Strategic sales meetings skills (for Sr. Client Manager).

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of oil and gas underwriting / analysis (for Client Manager).
  • 5+ years of managing oil & gas relationships (for Sr. Client Manager).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with other officers to effectively administer the management of assigned commercial banking relationships.
  • Underwrite Oil & Gas, Reserve Based Loans – including engineering data input, financial data input, historical financial analysis, and comprehension/analysis of upstream/midstream oil and gas operations.
  • Maintain a portfolio by calling on existing customers to expand existing business, ensure excellent client relations & proper servicing of account(s), and ensure the portfolio's credit quality.
  • Provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients, which includes direct contact with customers either through participation in joint sales calls with other officers or direct correspondence with clients and perform various projects/tasks as needed.
  • Serve as a conduit for all product lines and match client needs with appropriate products.
  • Proactively look for cross selling opportunities on bank products.
  • Navigate internal systems / databases to input / obtain / track portfolio information.
  • Manage a commercial banking portfolio that is specific to the oil and gas sector, and will have a secondary focus on selling deeper into the customer relationship.
  • Have responsibility for a mid to large - size portfolio including the most complex credits.
  • Grow revenue as directed by senior management to meet established goals by successfully prospecting new opportunities with existing clients and making appropriate referrals.
