About The Position

The Client Care Specialist works in a men’s shelter and is responsible for engaging homeless individuals with dignity and respect. The position provides direct care, guidance, and supervision to shelter residents; assists with routines of daily living; and fosters positive socialization and interaction. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of Human Services experience relevant to residential environments is preferred.
• Basic computer experience is helpful.
• Knowledge of alcohol, drug, and mental health issues is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with residents and contribute to a positive program atmosphere.
• Respond to resident concerns and communicate and document issues through log entries, narratives, and incident reports.
• Complete mandated daily resident census records.
• Help maintain security by overseeing orderly resident entry and exit, escorting unauthorized people and disruptive clients out, and inspecting the facility and grounds for safety hazards, damage, or maintenance needs.
• Identify clients at risk of self-destructive or high-risk behavior and recognize potentially volatile situations as part of crisis intervention.
• Assist with serving prepared meals and laundering bed linens.
• Provide general cleaning and housekeeping support as needed to maintain safe and sanitary conditions.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training workshops when required.
