About The Position

The Client Care Specialist works in a men's shelter and is committed to engaging homeless individuals with dignity and respect. The role provides direct care, guidance, and supervision to shelter residents; helps oversee residents’ daily routines; and fosters positive socialization and interaction. The part-time schedule is 4:00 p.m. to midnight, with coverage needed Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Human Services experience, preferably relevant to residential environments.
• Basic computer experience.
• Knowledge of alcohol, drug, and mental health issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with residents and contribute to a positive program atmosphere.
• Respond to residents’ concerns and communicate and document issues and problems through log entries, narratives, and incident reports.
• Complete all required daily resident census records.
• Help maintain security by ensuring orderly resident entry and exit, escorting unauthorized people and disruptive clients out, and inspecting the facility and grounds for hazards, damage, or maintenance needs.
• Identify clients at risk of self-destructive or high-risk behavior and recognize potentially volatile situations as part of crisis intervention.
• Assist with serving prepared meals and laundering bed linens.
• Provide general cleaning and housekeeping support as needed to maintain safe and sanitary conditions.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training workshops when required.
