About The Position

This Clerical Supervisor 1 position with the Westmoreland County Assistance Office (CAO) offers the opportunity to support a team that helps connect Pennsylvania residents with a broad range of services and assistance. As part of the supervisory team, you will be responsible for overseeing clerical workers who support professional income maintenance staff, and collaborating with other Clerical Supervisors to ensure smooth daily office functions. Requirements

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, and distribute work for the clerical team, reviewing all aspects to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Set daily schedules to ensure adequate clerical coverage.
  • Complete performance reviews for clerical staff.
  • Interview candidates for clerical vacancies.
  • Explain and instruct staff in processing methods and procedures.
  • Interpret and apply income maintenance program related policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Monitor daily mail, phone calls, front desk work, scanning, data entry, and all other incoming workflow.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors to prevent or address backlogs.
  • Participate in clerical work as needed.
  • Interact objectively and with sensitivity with coworkers, applicants, and customers in stressful or difficult situations.
  • Maintain a complaint log.
  • Help resolve grievances.
  • Serve as an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Coordinator.
  • Serve as Clerical Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Coordinator by maintaining practical, clerical processes for both programs.
