As a key member of our Registration/Admission Clerical team, the Clerical Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: registration/admission, accurately update demographic information, order entry, bookings, create patient charts, filing, bed board, patient transfer, arrange patient transport, criticall, verify and update medical insurance, collect payment for uninsured services and supplies, meet with patients or their family for preferred accommodation. The successful incumbent will have a proven track record for delivering excellent customer service and must be accountable within clinical and non-clinical teams. The Clerical Associate must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). This is a position with a variety of scheduled shifts which include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. As a part time employee, you are required to be available for all shifts that you are scheduled for. The Hospital schedules based on our operational needs and this commitment is essential to the success of this position. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors and enhances an exceptional patient experience. Other duties as per job fact sheet. Requirements

  • Medical Office Administration Program certificate, required
  • Medical Terminology Certificate required
  • Minimum two years of current Patient Registration/Admissions/Discharges experience within a hospital setting is required
  • One (1) year current experience in a medicine program required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and proficiency in the use of a computer
  • Experience with Meditech admissions and order entry is required
  • Demonstrated organizational and record keeping skills with a focus on accuracy
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Decision-making ability, good judgment, and the ability to coordinate, prioritize and develop effective workflow methods
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment with competing priorities, while demonstrating excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
  • subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, Cambridge Memorial Hospital requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.
  • The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Valid criminal record checks are in original format and dated with two months from date of conditional offer from CMH.
