About The Position

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Adoptions Clerical Associate. Under direction, this position will answer calls coming into the Adoptions Phone Bank and provide information to appropriate Adoptions staff. The position will also perform complex, specialized clerical services for Cook County professional Adoptions staff and serve as backup timekeeper. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing a supporting role in the Department’s adoptions operations. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school
  • Requires 2 years of office experience
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
  • Requires ability to attain and maintain licensure as a notary public

Responsibilities

  • Answers and documents incoming phone calls to the Adoptions phone bank
  • Performs complex, specialized clerical services for Cook County professional Adoptions staff
  • Establishes and maintains subsidy related files/documents and maintains tickler files (computerized or manual) to monitor case status, indicating timeframes
  • Provides clerical office support as a secretary to the team supervisors and professional staff
  • Serves as backup timekeeper
  • Orients professional and other clerical staff regarding Departmental rules and office procedures
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
