About The Position

The Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-cleaning equipment and performing tasks such as dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows. The associate upholds operational, merchandise, loss prevention, health, safety, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.

The associate is cross-trained across store areas and supports customer experience practices, store recovery, and Front End coverage as business needs arise. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with management and coworkers, attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. The position is seasonal and located at the TJ Maxx store in Racine, Wisconsin, with a starting pay range of $13.25 to $13.75 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and organized store environment, with a focus on floor care.
• Operate and maintain the floor scrubber and buffer; dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot clean glass and windows.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and recovery standards throughout the sales floor, queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.
• Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the lounge, restrooms, and Front End.
• Cross-train and work in multiple store areas, including the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor, to support business needs.
• Support and respond to Front End coverage needs.
• Model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers.
• Support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss prevention controls and company policies, including shrink reduction.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
