About The Position

The Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized TJ Maxx store, with a particular focus on floor care. Duties include operating floor scrubbers and buffers; dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot-cleaning glass and windows. The associate maintains cleanliness, organization, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.

The role also supports customer experience and store operations by following company policies and standards, maintaining health and safety practices, assisting with front-end coverage, and working in other areas of the store as needed. Associates communicate with management and colleagues, contribute to a safe and positive store culture, and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards and operate and maintain the scrubber and buffer.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
• Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, Single Queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.
• Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the lounge, restrooms, and front end.
• Work in multiple store areas, such as the backroom, front end, and sales floor, to support business needs.
• Support and respond to front-end coverage needs.
• Follow merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss-prevention controls and company policies, including shrink-reduction guidelines.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and help maintain a safe environment.
• Model customer-experience practices with internal and external customers and support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
