About The Position

Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. The Cleaning Ambassador works visibly at street level in an assigned zone, completing a variety of cleaning tasks while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor. The role also involves greeting and engaging pedestrians and visitors and providing directions or city information. Work is outdoors in all conditions. The schedule requires availability Monday through Sunday between 7:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.; the description lists pay of $18.41 per hour, with weekly pay and pay advances available.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English to create basic reports.
Experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

Nice To Haves

A valid Florida driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

Carry out a variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone.
Maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
Acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting or smile, and provide directions or city information.
Move through the zone with a rolling trash can and supplies/tools to remove litter from streets, sidewalks, and alleys.
Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, and other surfaces.
Pull weeds from tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and vacant lots.
Damp-wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
Watch for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report them to Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.
