About The Position

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to help make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. The role provides a visible street-level presence while carrying out a variety of cleaning tasks in an assigned zone. Ambassadors maintain a positive, professional demeanor and greet and engage pedestrians and visitors to provide directions or city information. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The listed pay is $16.50 per hour, paid weekly, with access to a pay advance before payday.

Requirements

Valid driver's license required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be able to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English to create basic reports.

Nice To Haves

Experience is preferred, but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Carry out a variety of cleaning tasks in an assigned zone while maintaining a visible street-level presence.
Maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
Greet and engage pedestrians and visitors, and provide directions or city information.
Remove litter from streets, sidewalks, and alleys while moving through the zone with a rolling trash can containing supplies and tools.
Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, and other surfaces.
Pull weeds from tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and vacant lots.
Damp-wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
Watch for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report them to Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
Complete basic daily reports of tasks performed.
