Full-Time Cleaner
About The Position
The Cleaner maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by performing routine janitorial services at assigned locations. The role ensures cleaning tasks are completed according to company standards, client expectations, and safety procedures, and contributes to a positive, professional work environment. The position includes cleaning and sanitation of floors, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas; maintaining cleaning equipment and janitorial closets; following safety procedures; and communicating with supervisors and team members about assignments, supply shortages, equipment issues, accidents, and facility concerns. The job is located in Cicero, New York, and requires night shifts and travel to assigned work locations. Work may take place in warehouse, retail, grocery, or distribution environments, with varying shifts based on business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to work night shifts and travel to assigned work locations.
- Continually stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, buffers, pallet jacks, and other equipment as required.
- Regular use of a mobile phone for communication and work-related tasks.
- Hearing and vision sufficient to safely perform job duties.
- Willingness to work varying shifts based on business needs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience; experience is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned floors, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and empty trash receptacles.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces according to company standards.
- Replenish restroom and facility supplies as needed.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, supply shortages, equipment issues, accidents, or facility concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures; properly handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Keep emergency exits, eyewash stations, and walkways clear and accessible.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Clean and maintain assigned cleaning equipment after each shift, including draining, cleaning, and charging equipment as required.
- Return tools, equipment, wet floor signs, mop buckets, brooms, and supplies to designated storage areas.
- Safely return propane tanks to the designated storage cage when applicable.
- Keep janitorial closets clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Complete assigned checklists and documentation accurately.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding daily assignments and operational concerns.
- Participate in walkthroughs with store management when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
