About The Position

Class B P&D Drivers transport, load, and unload freight safely and productively between Service Centers and customers. The role involves local daytime work and requires operating and inspecting commercial vehicles, managing freight documentation, and interacting with customers. Drivers must be available for irregular schedules, alternating shifts, and/or assignments, and participate in training and improvement programs.

Requirements

• At least 22 years of age.
• At least 18 months of commercial driving experience.
• Valid Class B CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tank endorsements.
• Valid DOT physical/medical card.
• No DUI or citation/conviction for reckless operations in the past 3 years.
• Fewer than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• Basic math skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Transport, load, and unload freight between Service Centers and customers in a productive, safe, and claims-free manner.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor and trailer being used.
• Properly document all freight control processes.
• Read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings, and labeling identifications.
• Affix correct placards to the tractor/trailer when necessary.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the company vehicle.
• Assist customers with preparing shipping papers.
• Interact and converse with external and internal customers.
• Safely operate a forklift to load or unload products when indicated and needed.
• Participate in Dayton Freight’s training and improvement programs.
• Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating shifts, and/or assignments.
• Follow the operational procedures and guidelines in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual.
