About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The role delivers freight solo to Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri. Routes are home daily, with occasional nights out. Drivers handle grocery freight and assist with unloading. Equipment includes sleeper and day-cab tractors, 53-foot refrigerated trailers, and pallet jacks. One year of 53-foot reefer experience with strong backing skills is required. The operation runs seven days a week, with two days off. Dispatch starts between 12:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Pay is weekly and includes an average solo mileage rate of $0.67 per mile for 1,500 or more miles per week, $26.25 per stop for 2–4 stops per day, and $29.50 per backhaul. Paid training is provided. Loyalty bonuses pay $1,250 at six months and $1,250 at one year. Performance and safety bonuses pay $300–$500 four times a year. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The company describes drivers as empowered to make safety decisions and says their jobs are protected. Ryder also offers support to company drivers transitioning from owner-operator trucks.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Have one year of 53-foot reefer experience and strong backing skills.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, which can include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Deliver freight solo to Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
