About The Position

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Claims specialist to join our Risk Management team. In this role, you will support the management of workers’ compensation incidents and claims across our light industrial workforce. Midway operates as a self-insured employer in Illinois and also manages programs in other states, which requires coordination with multiple TPAs, carriers, and state-specific regulations. You will work closely with field teams, injured employees, clinics, and insurance partners to ensure efficient claims handling, medical management support, and regulatory compliance. Because most of our workforce is Spanish-speaking, strong bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong attention to detail, ownership, and a willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset
  • Experience collaborating with TPAs, insurance carriers
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling internal and external matters
  • Comfortable using tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and basic project management software
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow through on assigned tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in workers’ compensation is a plus; we are willing to train the right candidate
  • Working knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations across multiple states, preferred
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation codes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor workers’ compensation incidents and claims from first report of injury through timely closure
  • Serve as a point of contact for injured workers, communicating in both English and Spanish.
  • Communicate with medical providers and clinics to retrieve work status reports and follow up on treatment authorizations
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and claims, including gathering documentation, reviewing reports, and coordinating follow-up with injured workers, witnesses, and clinics
  • Ensure required state workers’ compensation forms and documentation are completed accurately and filed in a timely manner
  • Track medical-only claims to resolution, escalating incidents or claims that show potential for lost time or litigation
  • Enter workers’ compensation class codes into internal systems as needed
  • Input and maintain data in the RMIS, including updates and document uploads
  • Partner with internal staff to support transitional duty or modified assignments aligned with medical restrictions
  • Correspond with employees, medical providers, TPAs, and internal teams to ensure timely updates and compliance throughout the life of the claim
  • Ensure all incidents and claims comply with applicable state and federal laws, self-insured program requirements and company policies
  • Compile and distribute routine risk reports to leadership
  • Other Job duties as assigned
