About The Position
The Civil/Structural Engineering Intern will join a project team and assist engineering team members with project work. Projects may include designing new power plants and modifying or upgrading systems, components, and structures at existing power plants. Under the direction of engineers, the intern will apply and expand their academic background in structural engineering while supporting engineering and design work.
Requirements
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree program in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Current enrollment in an ABET/EAC-accredited engineering program.
- Interest in behavior of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundations.
Nice To Haves
- General work experience in any industry is preferred.
- Extracurricular activities demonstrating initiative and teamwork capabilities are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Assist in reviewing structural design drawings and vendor drawings.
- Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundations.
- Support engineers and designers in structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations.
