About The Position

Apex Companies is seeking a Civil Project Engineer with a preferred focus on municipal infrastructure projects. The role prepares engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents; leads construction observation and project management services; and provides technical guidance and quality control to ensure deliverables meet required specifications. The engineer leads client interactions across design, bidding, contracting, and construction, and coordinates with municipal staff and regulatory agencies to obtain permits and comply with applicable regulations. The role also collaborates with colleagues and the Division Manager on infrastructure projects and engages with city councils, public works departments, and other local entities to discuss projects, provide updates, align engineering solutions with community needs, and drive strategic initiatives.

The position requires a civil engineering or related bachelor’s degree, Professional Engineer licensure, at least eight years of civil engineering experience focused on municipal engineering, and AutoCAD proficiency. Civil 3D is preferred. This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus subject to company program terms and conditions, as well as annual bonus opportunities.

Requirements

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• At least 8 years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on municipal engineering.
• AutoCAD proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents, preferably for municipal infrastructure projects.
• Manage and lead construction observation and project management services to ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and quality control to ensure project deliverables meet required specifications.
• Lead client interactions during design, bidding, contracting, and construction to support smooth project execution and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with municipal staff and regulatory agencies to secure necessary permits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with colleagues and the Division Manager to manage and support infrastructure projects.
• Engage with city councils, public works departments, and other local entities to discuss project details, provide updates, align engineering solutions with community needs, and drive strategic initiatives.
