About The Position

A full-service national law firm with more than 250 attorneys, 16 offices, and over 25 practice areas is seeking an attorney to join its civil defense litigation team. The attorney will work on sophisticated professional liability matters and a broad range of civil defense cases in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The role offers hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and mentorship while representing professionals, businesses, and insurers in complex litigation matters. The position follows a hybrid schedule in Hackensack, New Jersey, and offers a salary of $130,000–$170,000.

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in New Jersey.
• At least 3 years of litigation and/or professional liability defense experience.
• Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment.
• Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Admission to practice law in New York.
• Experience in professional liability defense litigation.
• Experience with Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims, legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, insurance broker liability, or other professional liability matters.
• Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
• Experience working with insurers and insured professionals.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of professional liability defense litigation from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.
• Conduct legal research and assist with litigation strategy and case analysis.
• Manage discovery and prepare for and attend depositions, mediations, and hearings, as well as prepare for trial.
• Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and witnesses; provide regular case updates and strategic guidance.
• Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters.
• Provide proactive case management and client reporting.
