About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Graduate Engineer to support a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and applicable local agency codes. Much of the role involves developing proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D. The position is suited to an organized, self-motivated team member who can collaboratively address complex issues on time and within budget while pursuing a Professional Engineering license.

Requirements

• 0–4 years of experience in commercial or single-family residential development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or ability to obtain one within 6–12 months.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
• Strong communication skills with team members and clients, including active listening.
• Competent technical skills to complete engineering tasks and ability to proactively pursue design solutions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow general directions and firm policies, and remain open to others’ ideas and compromise.
• Outgoing, friendly, approachable, detail-oriented, and flexible enough to consider broader concepts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Coordinate with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues.
• Prepare entitlement documents for Tentative Maps, Vacations, Zone Changes, and other entitlements.
• Calculate quantities using Microsoft Excel and prepare justification letters using Microsoft Word.
• Assist with construction drawings in AutoCAD Civil3D, including grading plans, plans and profiles, construction details, storm drain, water and sewer facilities, and signage and striping plans.
