About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Graduate Engineer to support a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and local agency codes. The role involves developing proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D and contributing to engineering work through organized, self-motivated, collaborative problem-solving, with attention to completing work on time and within budget. The position is intended for someone pursuing a Professional Engineering license.

The engineer will prepare exhibits, design drawings, entitlement documents, quantity calculations, and construction drawings for development projects. Work includes coordination with agency staff and internal teams and may cover grading, plans and profiles, construction details, storm drain, water and sewer facilities, and signage and striping.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 0–4 years of experience in Commercial or Single-Family Residential Development.
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain one within 6–12 months.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
• Strong communication skills, including active listening with team members and clients.
• Competent technical skills to complete engineering tasks and the ability to proactively pursue design solutions.
• Able to follow general directions and firm policies, practices, and procedures.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively, support the team, and remain open to others’ ideas and compromise.
• Outgoing, friendly, approachable, and detail-oriented, with flexibility to consider broader concepts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Coordinate with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analyses, and issues.
• Prepare entitlement documents supporting Tentative Maps, Vacations, Zone Changes, and other entitlements.
• Calculate quantities using Microsoft Excel and prepare justification letters using Microsoft Word.
• Assist with construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, including grading plans, plans and profiles, construction details, storm drain, water and sewer facilities, and signage and striping plans.
• Support a licensed Civil Engineer while learning company practices and local agency codes.
